Number 12 on the parts diagram, this is how you keep that belt tight.

The tensioner plate sets the motor position, which is what holds tension on the primary belt. A worn or bent plate makes it hard to hold a setting, and a belt that is loose or overtight will not last. Replacing the plate lets you tension the belt properly again.
